President Joe Biden addressed the nation Thursday evening on the U.S. response to Hamas’s terrorist attack against Israel and Russia’s ongoing “brutal war” against Ukraine. Rather than offer meaningless bluster as we are used to hearing from Republicans, Biden spoke intelligibly and convincingly about the realities of the unfolding situation and what his administration is doing to address them effectively.

How good was Biden’s speech? It was so good, apparently, that Newsmax couldn’t bear to sit there and let viewers continue watching it. Merely a third of the way into Biden’s 15-minute speech, host Eric Bolling had enough. Cutting out of the live feed, Bolling complained, “We really wanted to hear some American resolve. We wanted to hear the American president talk to the world and make it very clear that we Americans aren’t going to put up with what happened in Israel.”

In the brief minutes that this key address aired on Newsmax, Biden stressed the importance of this moment as an “inflection point in history.” He condemned Hamas as a “terrorist group” that “unleashed pure, unadulterated evil in the world,” whose “stated purpose for existing is the destruction of the State of Israel and the murder of Jewish people.” Biden made clear that Israel’s and Ukraine’s success is “vital for America’s security” and if Hamas and Putin “don’t pay a price,” then “chaos and death and more destruction” will ensue.

Biden wasn’t done showing “some American resolve,” as Bolling snarkily put it. Immediately after Newsmax cut away, Biden issued a stark warning about what would happen “if we turn our backs on Israel” or “we walk away from Ukraine.” Biden emphasized that American leadership, alliances, and values guides the world to productive, safe resolutions, and that giving up on either nation means we “put all that at risk.” With Israel, Biden insisted that the United States must ensure that “they have what they need to protect their people today and always.”

Had Newsmax allowed Biden’s entire speech to air, Bolling and his viewers would also have heard Biden further caution that “time is of the essence.” Biden warned that, despite partisan politics, the United States “cannot and will not let terrorists like Hamas and tyrants like Putin win,” insisting that “I refuse to let that happen.”

Newsmax may pretend otherwise, but the truth is that Biden said exactly what Bolling claims he failed to say, and Biden did it in a convincing and powerful way. Newsmax interrupted Biden’s live feed with nonsensible lies because the network couldn’t stand letting Biden’s outstanding leadership continue being on full display to the American public. Yes, Biden’s speech was that good.
