“Spectacular disaster” for Donald Trump
I’ve said that Donald Trump’s disappearing and reappearing gag order is something of a sideshow at this point. Trump isn’t going to be able to get himself off the legal hook just by saying asinine things. And for the more serious stuff, witness tampering is a chargeable crime whether there’s a gag order in place on any given day or not.
That said, there is a way for Trump’s gag order sideshow to go wrong for him, and that’s if he keeps making a point of violating it. To that end, there was an appeals court hearing today about whether to reinstate the temporarily stayed gag order, and Mary Trump says that the hearing was a “spectacular disaster” for Donald Trump:

So we’ll see what happens. There’s no scenario where we need to sit around and fret about whether a gag order is in place. Nor do we need to worry that any of Donald Trump’s inappropriate remarks are going to magically help him. But if the gag order gets reinstated and he keeps violating it, he’s more than welcome to sit in a jail cell while awaiting trial.
