Seven Angry Men

Kevin McCarthy’s dream of being House Speaker is growing more complicated by the day. It seems the undignified McCarthy cannot get out from under the mess, and it’s getting worse by the hour.

In the latest complication, a letter has been written. This letter comes from seven Republicans. Seven angry men. It is an open letter to the GOP caucus and contains a list of demands that any potential speaker must meet to garner their support. The seven angry men include five returning house members and two newbies. Here is the list of these seven angry men:

Rep. Andrew Clyde — GA

Rep. Scott Perry — PA

Rep. Paul Gosar — AZ

Rep. Dan Bishop — NC

Rep Chip Roy — TX

Representative elect Eli Crane — AZ

Representative elect Andy Ogles — TN

Here’s the problem, though. Some of their demands are batshit crazy — even by McCarthy standards. Among the demands are:

These seven are demanding a 72-hour window from the time of the release of final bills to the time these bills get voted on.

They also want to see a rise in the amount of freedom caucus members in committee chairmanships.

They also want to see the creation of “a church committee-style panel” to investigate “weaponized government,” whatever the hell that means.

But here’s the kicker — one of the demands that is probably at this second causing McCarthy a big headache. These seven men are demanding that the House starts permitting motions to vacate the Chair.

This would allow Republicans to force a vote on the Speakership. But it would also make it much easier — much easier for republicans to dislodge a speaker they do not like. This is quite the list of demands. Will Kevin rise to the occasion and blindly sign off on all of them?

McCarthy’s path to the Speakership has grown so painful that it’s rather embarrassing even to watch his conscienceless groveling. But this letter from the seven angry men is rather amusing. It appears Kevin still has a ways to go on his ass-kissing. I personally doubt he will be able to do it.
