Donald Trump runs and hides

Last night ABC News delivered the bombshell news that Lev Parnas has turned over Ukraine scandal audio and video tapes involving Donald Trump and Rudy Giuliani to the House impeachment inquiry. In response, Rudy is going indiscriminately berserk on Twitter and threatening people. But Trump is taking things in a rather different direction.

What does Donald Trump have to say about the revelation that there are tapes, and that Adam Schiff has them? Well, he tweeted this today: “The Democrats are getting hit and slammed on Impeachment. It is getting less and less popular by the day.” The trouble for him is, none of that’s true.

But Trump wasn’t done. He tweeted this: “Support for Impeachment is dropping like a rock, down into the 20’s in some Polls. Dems should now get down to work and finally approve USMCA, and much more!” To be clear, no such polls exist. Either Trump is making up these numbers, or his handlers are making up the numbers and feeding them to him in the hope of making him feel better.

Either way, Donald Trump is now performing the political equivalent of running and hiding under his bed, putting his hands over his ears, and telling himself comforting tales about how it’s all somehow going to magically work out in his favor. If he had an actual plan for fighting back against what’s happening to him, we’d be seeing it.
