Running and hiding

If the GOP had its own special theme song, I think it might be: “Running on Empty.” Why? Because in recent days, many a republican in the fashion of the God Hermes and his winged shoes, have appeared to sprout wings on their feet — or else they just REALLY don’t want to talk to reporters.

Reporters have been trying to ask GOP members questions about Donald Trump’s latest rhetoric. But Republicans, rather than answering, are running like hell. “Scurrying away!” It’s amazing, but many Republicans seemed to have missed their calling in life. They should have been track stars.

So all they’re doing is running. Elise Stefanik. Ted Cruz. All over Capitol Hill, the halls are alive with the sounds of GOP feet, going, going, going far and away from reporters.

And at the time of this writing, not one Republican has called on Trump to apologize. I suppose they’re too busy trying to impeach President Biden for loaning his son money for a truck. In the meantime, there does appear to be lots of — running.

In the meantime, reporters are seeking Republicans to talk to them. That appears not to be happening. WHERE ARE REPUBLICANS? Twitter has some good ideas about where they are:

“Hiding in the basement.”

“COWARDS!”

Maybe they all went to Cancun.”

“Republicans are CHICKEN.”

“Maybe their cult leader forbids them to talk.”

“They’re playing hide and seek.”

“What LOSERS.”

I like that last one the best. I will echo it. What LOSERS the GOP are. Do they really think they can outrun these horrible words? Do they really think Trump will not soon say something even worse? What a much of ninnies! GOP cowardice reveals itself in new AND creative ways every day.
