Ever since Ron DeSantis became Governor of Florida, it’s like a pale and unmovable cloud has hovered overhead. And it’s often been challenging to see the sunlight through the puffy and doom-filled cumulus.

But this week, Florida had some sunlight peeking through. This is because Governor and tyrant Ron DeSantis suffered a setback in his ongoing attempt to infuse the sunshine state with crippling darkness.

A Federal Judge has blocked some aspects of the “Stop WOKE Act.” This legislation (also called the “white discomfort law” — how quaint) denies classroom discussions on ANYTHING that makes students feel uneasy or scared regarding race. It’s racist, disgusting, and an excellent way to impose censorship in school classrooms.

U.S. District Judge Mark Walker issued a preliminary injunction on this DeSantis legislation saying it “violates First Amendment free speech protections and the 14th Amendment’s Due process Clause.”

Hallelujah. And the Judge wrote the following magnificence words which I’d LOVE to see flown over ahead for all to see. “Florida’s legislators may well find the plaintiff’s speech repugnant. But Under our constitutional scheme, the remedy for repugnant speech is more speech, not enforced silence. If Florida truly believes we live in a post-racial society, then let it make its case. But it cannot win the argument by muzzling its opponents.”

These words say it all. And I am sure many Floridians are very happy today. Do you know who ISN’T happy? Ron DeSantis. I say that’s a good thing. The man is no more than a petty tyrant, and it is terrific to see Florida fighting back against his tyranny.

And we need to continue the fight by voting that wretched man out of the Governor’s mansion. But today, that quiet and dense cloud overhead has receded, and we’ve seen tendrils of sunlight start to glow.
