It’s been over for quite a while for Florida non-Governor Ron DeSantis. He just doesn’t want to acknowledge it. But I think somewhere down in the depths of that LGBTQ-phobic thing that passes for his soul, he knows it.

Infighting and feuding have been dominating his campaign. This weekend, several top DeSantis officials were unceremoniously dumped — fired. In fact, DeSantis has reportedly been bitterly lashing out at — his own Super PAC.

He reportedly blames them for the flaming crap that is his campaign. Ron DeSantis is accusing them of leaks, of bad advertising, of not doing a good enough job. This, my friends and readers, has a name. It’s called projection. Ron DeSantis is projecting. He is doing so because he can’t bear to look in the mirror and see the real cause of his campaign’s tumultuous problems.

The fact is that Ron DeSantis is a terrible candidate — among the worst the GOP HAS EVER had. He can’t communicate, he’s unlikeable, his stance on most issues is outside the mainstream, and he clearly hates making the political rounds.

All of this has caused his candidacy to sink quicker than a storm ravaged boat at sea. Ron DeSantis was never ready for Prime Time. He is a sour and petty man who was lucky enough to get voted in as Florida’s governor. But that all went to his head, and in a classic display of hubris, he started believing his own press.

And when THAT happens. all bets are off. It’s been, for me, a pleasure watching the DeSantis campaign run out of gas. It’s been delightful watching his desperation, his futility, his angst. It’s been wonderful because this is a man who would take women’s right away as easily as asking for a cup of coffee.

This is a man who dares to ban the written word. This is a man who treats the LGBTQ community as non-humans. So yes, watching the DeSantis campaign slip-slide into nothingness has been paradise. Here’s hoping the man never runs for elective office again.
