CNN’s Jake Tapper has basically become a living example of how destructive a “both sides” mentality can be. In his eagerness to play fair, he regularly grills Democratic politicians or proposes ridiculous ideas of how both sides can get along while letting Republican politicians routinely lie on his show without much pushback – and often offering major concessions to them in exchange for access. As a result, he’s despised by voters of every stripe. This is why it’s amazing that guest Kellen Curry fell apart so quickly when he appeared on Tapper’s show for what was clearly intended by both parties to be a friendly interview.

If you haven’t heard of Kellen Curry, he’s the Republican candidate running to replace George Santos in New York’s 3rd Congressional District. Tapper merely wanted to hear Curry’s thoughts on Donald Trump, the defacto leader of the Republican Party. If Trump is actually as popular as Republicans and pollsters are making him out to be, this should’ve been an easy one – but Curry refused to give an answer. This is actually the definitely wrong answer for a Republican by the way – particularly if you’re running for office in the former guy’s backyard.

Tapper pushed harder – just asking for a yes or no response on whether Trump should be in the White House, and again, Curry refused to answer, but rattled off a list of candidates running for president. This only provoked the question of who Curry preferred for president, which he again tried to dodge, saying he would support whoever the nominee was, and cementing his aspiration to just be another Republican yes-man on every given issue. We have an election in 2024, but not just in November – and it’s our job to make sure Curry doesn’t win.
