President Obama held a Florida political rally today in support of Andrew Gillum, Bill Nelson, and other Democrats running for office in the state. Obama spent plenty of time singing the virtues of the Democratic candidates in attendance, and he explained why their Republican opponents like Ron DeSantis and Rick Scott are unsuitable. But then Obama turned his attention to the elephant in the Oval Office, Donald Trump.

President Obama used his speech this afternoon to slam dunk Donald Trump on a number of issues. Obama pointed out the reckless irresponsibility of Trump’s decision to continue using an unsecured cellphone even after learning the Chinese were eavesdropping on him. Obama criticized Trump for daring to falsely claim that he could change the Constitution, and take away the citizenship of certain Americans, with an executive order. But the real slam dunk may have been in the attention department.

Donald Trump’s rally speeches have become such ratings duds that they’re rarely aired on cable news anymore. But all three major cable news networks – CNN, MSNBC, and even Fox News – aired much or all of President Obama’s speech live today. In fact at one point Fox had the caption “Obama: need leaders standing up for what’s right” on the bottom of the screen while he was speaking. Yes, it was during the Shep Smith news block, and yes, he may be the closest thing to a liberal host on Fox. But still, it’s got to kill Donald Trump that even Fox News is giving more airtime to Obama than to Trump.
