We’re now six days into Donald Trump’s impeachment. We’ve seen plenty of Trump’s people start throwing each other under the bus, at least two cooperating witnesses lined up against him, and a feeding frenzy that’s uncovered additional Trump scandals. But the real impact of impeachment thus far appears to be on Donald Trump’s behavior, as he’s unraveling at a stunning pace.

Donald Trump just tweeted this, which speaks for itself: “I want Schiff questioned at the highest level for Fraud & Treason.” That’s right, he’s decided that the Chairman of the House Intelligence Committee has committed treason, just because. The other day Trump announced that Nancy Pelosi was “no longer Speaker of the House” and that had no impact either, but don’t tell that to an increasingly delusional Trump.

Trump wants to know who the whistleblower is, saying “I want to meet not only my accuser.” He also says he “deserves” to meet his accuser. He doesn’t appear to understand that that’s not how anything works in the impeachment process, where the most severe outcome of a conviction would simply be removal from office. He’s thinking of his eventual civilian trial after he’s out of office, which will send him to prison if he’s convicted.

The truly deranged part is this: Donald Trump is demanding to be able to meet “the person who illegally gave this information, which was largely incorrect, to the “Whistleblower.” Was this person SPYING on the U.S. President? Big Consequences!” So he’s saying he wants to come face to face with this person, and he’s going to dish out big consequences. What’s he threatening to do here? This is all pathetic and toothless on Trump’s part – but it’s even more psychotic than ever. If Trump keeps saying stuff like this, he’ll only be speeding up his inevitable ouster.
