Mic drop moment

Watching the coverage of the January 6 hearings, I was struck by something MSNBC pundit Michael Steele said. It was about Liz Cheney. The January 6 hearings needed a MIC DROP moment. They really did. And Steele seems to think they had one. He gave his opinion on who said it, and that was Liz Cheney.

Whatever one thinks about Liz Cheney, one cannot deny she was utterly magnificent. I would never vote for her. Her politics do not make sense to me. But she shone at the first hearing. And Steel said her mic drop moment was when she said this: “GOP dishonor will remain after Trump is gone.”

I agree with Steel. It was a lightning moment of clarity. And it really highlights everything rotten in the Republican party. There could not be more of a difference between Liz Cheney and Kevin McCarthy.

One is a lioness who is awake and aware of the grandness of our country and constitution. The other is a scared little worm who has allowed the rot from within to consume him to the point where it’s taken everything from him, including 100 percent of his honor.

What a karmic event it would be if (after we win in November) Kevin McCarthy is demoted and his position given to Liz Cheney.

As for Kevin? There will come a day when Kevin McCarthy will feel shame. We will likely not see it. Perhaps it will be late at night when he allows the smallest crack of shame to enter.

It might be years from now well after he has lost his precious speaker-ship and remains nothing more than a footnote in history — doomed to be lumped in with the Benedict Arnolds of time.

It might be late at night, staring at the ceiling and wondering why he feels that emptiness. I do not know when it will happen, but Kevin’s awakening — even if it is a tiny seed of awareness will one day come. I wonder if he will think it was worth it.
