I want to address one question that has repeatedly popped up regarding Attorney General Merrick Garland. I realize many feel he is weak. I do not share that sentiment, but time will tell in that regard, and everyone has the right to think as they want to. I am a big fan of Garland’s, and until he gives me a reason not to be, that is just the way it is.

But what I want to speak about is Garland and Robert Mueller. Many are comparing the two. I think that is a mistake. Allow me to elaborate. Many of us put Mueller on a pedestal — I know I did. And that was wrong. But so many of us were exhausted, enraged by Trump’s atrocities, and wanted — no, needed a hero. We assigned that role to Mueller.

And, of course, he did not live up to that label. I think we were all let down by that, and the experience made us a bit less trustworthy.

Now, with Garland, I see many attacking him for the way he handled himself during the recent hearings. Many are mad because folks like Josh Hawley yelled at and disrespected him. People complain he just sat there and took it. His voice was shaky. He should have yelled back. To that, I say hell no!

Garland was being baited. Those idiots like Hawley WANTED Garland to lose his cool. They WANTED to be able to run ads accusing Garland of being on a political witch hunt. They were performing for an audience — that audience was Donald Trump and his brainwashed base.

The head of the Department of Justice can NOT explode during a Senate hearing. It just cannot happen. That is why you saw even Bill Barr when he was questioned show (fake) politeness. No DOJ leader will start yelling and cussing back at the ones who scream and curse at them. It would be a terrible look for the DOJ and would feed completely into the GOP narrative.
