Now that Donald Trump has badly lost the midterm elections, and the House of Representatives is about to be controlled by the Democrats, Trump is facing several nightmares. One of them is Congresswoman Maxine Waters. Trump has spent the past two years attacking her along racial lines, but now she’s about to become Chair of a powerful House committee.

Maxine Waters represents California’s 43rd District, which is in Los Angeles and is adjacent to one of the deadly and devastating fires in the state. Donald Trump has made a complete mess of his response to the fires thus far. He’s tried to blame the victims for the fire. He’s repeatedly rambled incoherently about raking the forests. He traveled to one of the most devastated cities and got its name egregiously wrong. Now Waters has just about had it.

Maxine Waters has posted a lengthy statement which reads in part: “Donald Trump’s absolutely outrageous response to the California wildfires is yet another example of his lack of knowledge, his lack of compassion, and his inability to provide the type of leadership this country deserves in the midst of a crisis. How dare this president blame ‘gross mismanagement of the forests’ for these devastating wildfires without presenting any facts or any special knowledge? Instead of running his mouth about things he knows nothing about, he should learn to show some empathy and sympathy for the suffering of others.”

It’s worth pointing out that as the incoming Chair of the House Financial Services Committee, Maxine Waters will be free to launch investigations into just about anything that involves federal funding. Because Donald Trump has threatened to cut off funding for fire management, Waters can issue subpoenas and hold nationally televised hearings into Trump’s malfeasance in this matter. Specifically, she can get to the bottom of why Trump keeps shilling for this mysterious “forest management” – which seems to involve simply chopping down all the forests – and who might be paying him to push this corrupt position.
