Maxine Waters slam dunks Donald Trump

House Financial Services Committee Chair Maxine Waters has been calling out Donald Trump for his antics and crimes since day one. She’s now a key player in the House impeachment inquiry, along with Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi and various other committee chairs. Earlier today, Waters spelled out what she’s really looking to do to Trump.

Maxine Waters tweeted this today: “I’m calling on the GOP to stop Trump’s filthy talk of whistleblowers being spies & using mob language implying they should be killed. Impeachment is not good enough for Trump. He needs to be imprisoned & placed in solitary confinement. But for now, impeachment is the imperative.”

Let’s break down what she’s talking about here. Congresswoman Waters is echoing a sentiment famously expressed earlier this year by Speaker Pelosi, who said she wants to put Donald Trump in prison. This isn’t some pipe dream. New York already has a grand jury targeting Trump for indictment on state charges, and he can expect to be arrested and put on trial the minute he’s no longer in office. That’s in addition to any federal charges that the DOJ might bring against him after he’s out of office.

It’s important that Maxine Waters is reminding the GOPthat Donald Trump is headed to prison once this is over. How much longer do they want to keep hitching their wagons and tying their own fates to a career criminal who’s going to end up behind bars? The sooner Senate Republicans get on board with ousting Trump, the better chance they might have of surviving this politically. They’d do well to listen to Waters – but they’re not there yet.
