We all knew this decision was coming, but we didn’t know when. Would the United States Supreme Court swiftly rule against Donald Trump’s effort to block the National Archives from turning over incriminating evidence to the January 6th Committee? Or would the court drag it out by hearing the case in detail before ultimately ruling against him? Now we have our answer.

Tonight the Supreme Court has summarily ruled against Trump’s request, according to several major news outlets. This means it’s over, because there is no one else left for Trump to appeal to. The National Archives has previously stated that if and when the court battles were over, it would turn over the evidence immediately. So now that the court battles are indeed over, the National Archives will indeed immediately give these records to the January 6th Committee.

Donald Trump knew he would lose this court battle in the end, but he went to great lengths to try to drag out his loss as long as possible. This means he knows just how incriminating this evidence is, and how much it’ll harm him.

Now we can look forward to the January 6th Committee plowing through this evidence as quickly as humanly possible, and after that we’ll start to see the committee gradually making that evidence public, as it moves forward with subpoenas, media interviews and public hearings. This is a massive blow for Trump, at a time when he’s now taking ugly blows from all sides.
