You know how Donald Trump spent the first month of the coronavirus crisis trying to convince us all that it was just a hoax, and that everything would be fine? That was psychotic on his part, and literally a crime, regardless of his motivations. Now it turns out his motivations were even uglier than we thought.

Here we thought Trump was just being delusional, because he didn’t want to admit that he had a serious problem to deal with, or because he was afraid that acknowledging the crisis would hurt his reelection chances. Now it turns out, in addition to all of the above likely being true, Trump was feeding his crap and sitting on his hands because China told him to.

That’s right, Donald Trump was telling us that the coronavirus thing was going to blow over because Chinese President Xi Jinping lied to him about the severity of it, and Trump decided to believe Xi instead of believing the United States intelligence community. This is according to a jaw dropping, yet perhaps not surprising, new report from the Washington Post tonight.

Donald Trump has repeatedly demonstrated that he’s clinically gripped by his deranged conspiracy theories about the U.S. intel community. We saw it today when he referred to the State Department as the “Deep State Department.” Apparently Trump is so broken in the head, he sided with the corrupt authoritarian leader of China instead of siding with the United States. Trump’s behavior here is homicidal, and it’s time he’s arrested.
