The most noble of politicians will tell you that integrity and honesty are the most important yardsticks of political success. The more cynical politicians might point to approval ratings, and reelection prospects instead. Then there’s Donald Trump, who seems to think that making the biggest splash on Twitter is the most important.
ButTrump’s insane tweet today, falsely accusing an elderly man of staging his fall at the hands of the police, while also secretly being some kind of domestic terrorist, keeps becoming more unpopular as the day goes on. Trump’s tweet now has 145,000 comments, nearly all of them negative, and just 130,000 likes. He’s getting ratioed by a widening margin. Trump thinks Twitter is everything, but he’s losing Twitter today. He’s losing at his own sick game.
