Looks like the DOJ is sick and tired of that whole phony “DOJ is doing nothing about Trump” narrative

NBC News reporter Pete Williams just now stated live on MSNBC that relevant people in the DOJ were in fact not surprised by Cassidy Hutchinson’s testimony. This further underscores my belief that the recent leaks we’ve seen about the DOJ’s supposed inaction are from lower level people in the DOJ who wouldn’t know anything anyway.

Yesterday’s NY Times reporting claimed that the DOJ has refused to even discuss internally whether or not to investigate Trump. But anonymous sources cited in the article merely go on to gripe about not being allowed to know what’s going on with any Trump probe, and not being allowed to ask about it. These “sources” come off as coffee boys who are upset because they’ve been told not to walk the halls gossiping about sensitive ongoing cases.

Lower level people are often willing to leak their own speculation to the media as if it were actual inside knowledge, in an effort to sound smart or get a reporter to owe them an editorial favor later. But these aren’t sources who know anything. The media knows better, but unfortunately sometimes runs with it anyway.

NBC’s Pete Williams has obviously heard from someone higher up in the DOJ, who actually knows what’s going on, and wanted this “DOJ is doing nothing, DOJ is getting caught off guard” nonsense refuted. This suggests DOJ leadership is pissed out at the constant, inaccurate claims in the media that the DOJ isn’t doing anything.

Williams also stated on air just now that he can’t imagine the DOJ backing down from prosecuting Trump, simply because Trump announces a campaign. Keep in mind that Williams appears to have just spoken with a DOJ higher-up, and then went on MSNBC and said this.

Williams also emphasized that the DOJ is watching these hearings intently, and that the J6 Committee doesn’t need to make any criminal referrals, because the DOJ is going to charge guilty people anyway. Again, Williams appears to be getting this directly from DOJ leadership.

This reporting should put to bed the nonsense narrative about the DOJ “doing nothing” in relation to Donald Trump and Trump world. As should yesterday’s court filing revealing that the DOJ secretly got Trump’s own lawyer to testify that Trump never even tried to give Steve Bannon executive privilege – pointing to just how deep the DOJ has penetrated Trump’s inner circle.

Unfortunately, this kind of reporting probably won’t do much to make the nonsensical “DOJ is doing nothing” and “Trump will magically get away with it all just by announcing a campaign” narratives go away. These narratives are laugh out loud absurd on their face, but they manipulate audiences’ emotions, so the media can’t resist continuing to push them.
