In the world of literature, one popular topic is selling one’s soul to the devil. People do it for a variety of reasons –Fame. Money. Power. Sometimes all of the above. And literature has immortalized the soulless ones. Some of the more legendary stories include ” The picture of Dorian Gray” and “Rosemary’s baby.” And they ALWAYS get a raw seal — always.
For what is one without a soul? A soul and a person go hand in hand. For a person to live soullessly, that means — they are damned. Yet some never learn this mythical lesson. They stand all too ready in the garden of evil, ready to make any deal possible to get what they want — even if it is the loss of the one thing they need most.
Many Republicans have sold their souls. They have sold them to Donald Trump and the never-ending soullessness of the big lie. And yet it is not worth it. But many of them do not yet know that. Lindsey Graham is such a person.
There was a time when Graham was actually respected. He has even liked — by some. Now many people think Graham was always this way — always meaning craven. Perhaps so. But I believe that had John McCain still been with us, his presence would have kept Lindsey from veering off the path of good — and into evil’s den.
Graham is reportedly one of the people working on gun reform. Of course, we know how seriously to take THAT. But Marjorie Taylor Greene apparently takes it quite seriously. She has lashed out at Graham, claiming he will “hurt the very people that voted for him and put him in office.”
Greene warned Lindsey that there are a whole lot of people who are going to despise him for this. Of course, Greene did not sell her soul because she likely never had one to begin with. But Graham is not only getting verbally slammed by her. Many Republicans are furious at him. That’s the problem with selling your soul to evil. Evil does not leave one alone after that.
