Letitia James just caught Donald Trump in the act

Now that the New York courts have levied a nearly half billion dollar penalty (including interest) against Donald Trump for fraud, we know two things are going to happen. First, Trump is going to play games to try to avoid justice, because that’s what he always does. Second, Trump is going to fail, because the judge and prosecutor in the case are smarter than he is.

To that end, Trump just made a court filing listing his business, and – surprise – six of his New York businesses suddenly have Florida addresses. Whatever feeble stunt Trump was trying to pull here, it’s already fallen flat. New York Attorney General Letitia James has already flagged the address changes, and is asking Judge Arthur Engoron to take notice.

To be clear, these kinds of simplistic antics on Trump’s part gain him nothing. It doesn’t delay anything. It doesn’t buy Trump time. It doesn’t allow him to hide any assets. This kind of two bit scam only works if no one is paying attention. And it’s clear that James and Engoron are several steps ahead of Trump on all of this.
