We all knew it was only a matter of time before it happened. There was no other outcome possible. All actions cause a reaction, and this particular action caused hundreds — maybe thousands of reactions. I speak about the actions of Governor Ron DeSantis.

DeSantis has been earnestly attempting to turn the sunshine state into a hellhole. He’s remade it into some type of Maga tropical island, where anyone can stride around with a gun, where the word Gay is considered a poison, where learning and knowledge are becoming a thing of the past, and where health officials are chosen for their political beliefs. Not to mention his ongoing battle with Mickey.

And now we have evidence that people do not like DeSantis and his crazy plans for the sunshine state. We have this evidence because people are — fleeing. “Run, run away.” Tourism in Florida is going to the birds. Conventions due to take place in Florida are being scrapped, and when asked why, the answer is: “DeSantis.”

For example, more than half a dozen planned conventions in Florida are being canceled. We know this because of a tourism list. The South Florida Sun Sentinel reported on it. “Visit Lauderdale,” says, “We lost this program due to political climate.”

Convention organizers WERE asked what was the reason for the abrupt cancellations. One summed it up nicely: “Governor DeSantis.”

And reports are the tourism industry in Florida is in full panic mode — because they’re losing money. They’re losing money because they have a crazy Governor nobody wants to be exposed to, so people are going elsewhere. Hotel rooms are being canceled. Thousands of dollars are going down the toilet, and restaurants are losing money.

“From an economic standpoint, this is very harmful,” said the President of “Visit Lauderdale.” The story makes me sad because I happen to love the sunshine state. But it is understandable what’s happening now. DeSantis simply repels people. In addition, many seem to see this as a protest. They do not like DeSantis’s changes to the state, and they’re letting him know.

And it isn’t surprising. Florida is beautiful, a nautical oasis, a hideaway for many seeking to get away from it all. At least it WAS that. But sadly, the state has a Governor as appealing as a can of Spam, who will not stop his systematic destruction,.

DeSantis was asked to comment, and a spokesperson for the whiny-voiced Governor said this was nothing more than a “media stunt.” No, it’s not, Ronny, no, it’s not. People do not want to be around a wanna-be dictator. It’s that simple.
