I’ve always been fond of mysteries. Many mystery novels are often titled: “The mystery of…” And then you fill in the blank. And boy, oh boy, do I have a mystery to share with you! It is the mystery of the vanishing Congressmen.

This story has now taken on a life of its own, has grown wings, and is the talk of Capitol Hill. ANOTHER — yes ANOTHER GOP Congressman has up and quit. He will not be running for relection.

Remember, friends and readers? Remember my article where I said there would be more coming? And so there is! NOW — people are starting to talk. Murmurs are being heard. Mysterious whispers are reverberating around Capitol Hill. And they all say the same thing:

What in HELL is going on with the GOP House Caucus? Rep. Mark Greene of Tennessee, on Wednesday afternoon, said he is not seeking reelection. There ARE rumors that Greene plans to run for governor of Tennessee — however, that election isn’t for a few years. So, WHY is he leaving? Why is EVERYONE leaving?

It’s like retail clearance, as the republican store empties. “Who’s next?” I saw that question on social media and asked dozens of times, for there will be a next. And I have a theory.

My theory is that being a Congressman (or woman) on the hill right now, as a member of the GOP, is a pretty lonely and foul job. The dysfunction is rampant; nothing gets done, and if it were ME, I wouldn’t stay. Would you?

When things are working well — when all the pieces of a company or a group are a well-oiled machine, one doesn’t see this type of thing. It’s a mass exodus. That is what we’re watching.

If the House GOP had done their Spring cleaning and emptied the rubbish (such as Gym Jordan and James Comer), perhaps some of these resigning congresspeople would have stayed.

Only they didn’t. They allowed the mold to accumulate, spread, and decay. Now, almost nobody wants to be there. It’s the most incompetent, stupid House Caucus in history. And now they’re losing all their members. It couldn’t happen to a sorrier group of misfits.
