Donald Trump has spent the past several days falsely claiming that a drug called chloroquine has been approved for treatment of the coronavirus; it has not. Trump has also falsely claimed that chloroquine is worth using because it can’t kill you; in reality it’s a highly dangerous drug that should only be used in certain circumstances.

It was a matter of time before Donald Trump’s lies got someone killed, and sadly it’s now happened. Axios has flagged an announcement from the Banner Health care system which reveals that a couple ingested a chloroquine variant in a misguided attempt at protecting themselves from the coronavirus. The husband has died as a result of ingesting it, and the wife is in critical condition.

Unfortunately this will continue to happen, as some Americans mistakenly assume that the medical advice being dished out by the President of the United States is safe and accurate. Meanwhile, scattered reports today reveal that as a direct result of Donald Trump’s false claims, chloroquine is now being hoarded to the point that even the people running the FDA clinical trials are having trouble getting their hands on it. How is Trump not in prison yet?
