Earlier this week Ivanka Trump was finally implicated in her father’s Russia scandal, when the LA Times reported that she had an elevator meeting with Russian government representatives at Trump Tower just after her brother and her husband had met with them upstairs. Of course her husband Jared Kushner has already been implicated in the Russia scandal in too many ways to count. That led us to an ill timed tweet from Ivanka about Jared. It didn’t go over particularly well.
Ivanka tweeted “Happy birthday, Jared! Thank you for being the most amazing father, husband, and best friend I could have dreamed of. Here’s to you!” That would have been a nice sentiment, if it didn’t consist of one person implicated in a treasonous plot against the United States sending a birthday wish to an alleged criminal co-conspirator. Suffice it to say that the responses were less than cordial.
“You are both going to jail. Two criminals, grifters, liars and cons. You deserve each other. Your poor children. I feel sorry for them,” said Sandy Beall. “You guys are going to look lovely in orange,” said Devin Comiskey. “Give him a big wet kiss. He will be indicted for money laundering and other crimes before the end of the year,” said yet another unimpressed respondent.
Jared Kushner met with Russian government representatives at a meeting whose purpose was to try to get dirt on Hillary Clinton. Kushner also met with the Russian Ambassador and the head of a Russian bank during the transition period. He then lied about all of these meetings on his government security clearance form, a felony. He’s alleged to have obstructed justice by encouraging Donald Trump to fire FBI Director James Comey. So those predicting a Kushner prison sentence are basing it on some pretty solid evidence.
