As if Donald Trump hasn’t had enough bad news this week, there is something else that should be causing a bit of panic inside the Trump campaign. Make that A LOT of panic. When it comes to political races, one cannot EVER underestimate the importance of independent voters. They form a crucial voting block that can significantly influence the outcome of ANY election.

Independent voters, an extremely powerful voting block, have the ability to shape the fate of a candidate, making them a pivotal factor in any political race. Regrettably, Donald Trump’s performance with this crucial voting block has been subpar. His approval numbers with independent voters are on a downward trajectory, a trend that should raise concerns for both him and his campaign.

Recent polls indicate a significant decline in Trump’s approval numbers among independent voters. For example, a new Marist national poll shows Trump’s approval from independent voters dropping by eight percent since late March or early April, a trend that should raise concerns for his campaign.

Much of this has to do with the New York trial. After all, so much data before the trial even started were really a red-hot warning for Donald Trump. Most people do not want to see America led by a felon.

At the same time this is happening to Trump, Biden’s numbers with independents are ticking upward. This Marist poll is one of many polls highlighting Donald Trump’s difficulties with this group. But it is far from the ONLY one.

A Quinnipiac poll in February showed the same thing. Many media pundits choose not to talk about it because, naturally, it hurts their Trump is invincible narrative. Given the historical significance of independent voters in determining election outcomes, what the Trump team SHOULD be doing is delving into WHY their candidate is repelling so many people in this voting block, (we know why but it does not seem they do.)

This spurning of Donald Trump by Independents could potentially be a game-changer in the upcoming election.
