House Republicans just sank to a whole new low

The expression “Money is the root of all evil” is undoubtedly true. Money has proven to be the Achilles Heel of many. It is insidious. It beckons, it whispers, it cojoles and flatters. Money can take what seems like a rational human being and make them crazy. Money is one reason we currently have both an Actors AND a Writer’s strike. Money does more harm than almost anything.

Of course, some people don’t see it that way. Some people want money to burn. And House Republicans are proving this to be true. House Republicans have decided they want raises! How lovely! Now, as you know, raises are not usually given to people who screw up, and House Republicans are the kings and queens of screw-ups.

I say they have not done one iota of good for the American people, but that hasn’t stopped their greed. Greed is good, say many republicans. So the amount of money Republicans have settled on paying themselves is $8,000. In their spending bill, republicans included this nice hefty raise for themselves — a 4.6 pay increase.

Now. If this legislation were to pass, it would be the first time in 15 years that Republicans would get what is called “a cost-of-living” pay increase. But some Republicans are said to be worried about the public finding out about their smarmy little pay raise to themselves!

They’re worried it could impact the election coming up. They’re worried about the root of all evil — money. And this comes while house republicans rail on TV about government spending. What you see is a game. The GOP doesn’t care about Government spending. All of this is Republican smoke and mirrors.

And this ALSO comes while Republicans try to tinker around with things such as supplemental nutrition assistance. And how they’d LOVE to fiddle with Social security as well, were we to let them.

Money is the root of Republican evil. And there is no way any House Republican should get a pay raise. And yes, it WILL affect the 2024 election — so long as we let people know about it.
