House Republicans have fallen into catastrophic disarray tonight

The world is on fire. The world is on fire, and Republicans are not helping to put out the flames. On Thursday morning, human failure Gym Jordan announced he was putting his third vote on hold. He also appeared to endorse the idea of empowering the Speaker pro tem.

Awesome! So the chaos is over then. Right? No. Here’s the thing. Hurt feelings abound, and many Republicans are (at least for now) refusing to endorse and vote for this new plan of empowering the Speaker pro tem with a limited degree of power to get back to business.

“Might as well be the Whigs.” This comes from Texas Rep. Chip Roy, who seems to view this idea as a compromise, which, as you know, many Republicans are loath to do.

Compromise is not the friend of many Republicans, including Chip Roy . Drama and chaos, on the other hand, are. Chip Roy says compromise would be a “violation of tradition and norms.”

He’s not the only Republican who feels this way. Rep. Tim Burchett of Tennessee says the right thing to do is to stay on Capitol Hill and pick a new permanent speaker. He doesn’t approve of punting it down the line. He also says that there are a lot of”hurt feelings” among Republicans. (Snowflakes — my words..)

Now, Democrats have not said no to supporting the plan to empower McHenry’. But they would need to know the specifics. And some Republicans apparently do not want to GIVE specifics or work across the aisle with Dems at all.

In addition, we have a VERY reluctant Speaker Pro Tem. McHenry seems miserable. You can just look at him and see the “I don’t want this job” despair in his eyes.

He even responded to a reporter’s question, saying he is still working to support Gym Jordan. This is not a good sign that we have an intelligent Speaker Pro Tem.

Today, there will be no vote for Gym, who appears to want to try again in the winter. Why he wants to do this, I do not know. Perhaps he thinks a change of seasons will help. If so, Gym Jordan has officially become the stupidest man in Congress.

In the meantime, Republicans have been meeting behind closed doors. That has not gone well either, with reportedly one republican cussing out Matt Gaetz. Reportedly Gaetz was ordered by McCarthy to sit down — and refused.

Meanwhile, on the Republican farm, some expressed disappointment with Gym Jordan for not having another vote today, proving that Republicans want and need humiliation every which way but loose.

The bullying and strong-arm tactics were brought up, as were the threats. When this meeting broke up, one sad-eyed Republican told reporters he was going to “the chapel.”

So, in summary — the world is on fire; yes, it is. It needs us. But Republicans are out to lunch. And they’re a political party that’s disintegrating faster than a falling asteroid.
