As the Proud Boys prepare to converge upon Washington, D.C. for the fruitless objection to certification of the vote, they will be without their fearless leader, Enrique Tarrio. He was banned from Washington following his arrest. Accused of vandalizing a Black Lives Matter banner at a historic Black church, Tarrio was found carrying high-capacity firearm magazines. Politico reported that Tarrio had arrived early in anticipation of the expected protests, and he was arrested for destruction of property to which weapons charges were added. Washington, D.C. Mayor Muriel Bowser has not minced words about her intention to ensure that things do not get out of hand by calling in the National Guard.
Business Insider reported that Mayor Bowser has advised people to stay out of downtown D.C. today to avoid conflicts with “people looking for a fight.” More than 340 troops are expected to descend on the nation’s capitol. Acting Police Chief Robert Contee also reported that he has reason to believe many of those protestors will be armed and advised that it is unlawful to carry weapons on capitol grounds and in federal parks. Donald Trump has tweeted about the event, saying that “it will be wild.” What a sorry excuse for a president this man is and always has been. After Wednesday, today, he will no longer be our worry no matter how much he continues to claim that he won the election that he so obviously lost.
Kelly Loeffler, who the Lincoln Project has dubbed “KKKelly,” said that she will be in Washington to join with the unpatriotic, undemocratic Republicans who will object to the certification of Joe Biden as President Elect (after she lost the election last night). The objections and the rally are also worthless. Trump has lost his bid to overturn the election in over 60 cases. In some instances, the judges who ruled against his team were appointed by him. Judges rule based on evidence and the law. Trump’s team had no evidence nor the law on their side, yet they persist. These actions will merely make it more difficult to bring our country back together, and it is obvious that Trump and his followers could care less.
President Elect Biden is simply waiting all this out. He has been duly elected by the people and by the Electoral College, and Trump, Lin Wood, Sydney Powell, or any other members of his nonsensical brigade can do nothing to change it. Biden is, therefore, quietly moving forward with his plans and staying above the fray. As Politico reported, this is working for Biden as he has seen recent support from Tom Cotton, Paul Ryan, business leaders, and 23 other Republican Senators. As for the rest of us, we have been patiently waiting for this day to end and for January 20 to begin. We have hope that things will ultimately turn around, and in the famous words of Jesse Jackson, we must keep hope alive.
