It’s difficult to think of a bigger non-story than Penn Biden Center discovering randomly misplaced classified docs and immediately reporting them to the National Archives. It’s what you do when you’ve done nothing wrong. As opposed to Donald Trump, who stole classified nuclear secrets, tried to cover it up, and tried to obstruct justice after he got caught.
Of course House Republicans, Fox News and right wing propagandists will try to spin this into a scandal. But they alone don’t get to decide that. The real news outlets are the ones that decide whether a fake scandal ends up being perceived by the public as being a real one. We saw this when the real news outlets ran with the phony Hillary Clinton email scandal, and it took off. We saw it again when the real news outlets declined to run with the phony Hunter Biden scandal, and it didn’t take off.
As always, a huge chunk of your job as a political activist is to pressure the mainstream media into approaching this kind of non-story in honest fashion. It’s important that we call out those within the mainstream media who will try to dishonestly “both sides” this story. It’s also important that we amplify the truth whenever we do see the media speaking it. Here’s hoping the major media outlets will handle this latest Biden non-story in at least somewhat responsible fashion, and we intend to hold the media’s feet to the proverbial fire if it doesn’t.
