Last week House Republican George Santos was seen wandering the congressional halls with a baby that he admitted wasn’t his, in a sign that perhaps he’s lost whatever was left of his marbles as his criminal charges add up. Now it’s somehow gotten even stranger.

Former congressional staffer Ian Larsen posted a story about how he went to the congressional credit union on Monday, only to witness George Santos sitting in the waiting area. What was Santos doing? According to Larsen, Santos was telling another patron that he wanted to cast that patron in a Kevin Smith movie.

No really. George Santos is apparently now going around pretending that he’s some kind of casting agent for movie director Kevin Smith. Larsen said that Santos was “still there when I left, just milling about and chatting with the tellers. You’d think he’d be meeting with his lawyers, but that’s where he was at 2:00 on a Monday afternoon.” Then it got even stranger.

Kevin Smith (legendary director of Clerks and other films) got wind of this, and posted a tweet mockingly asking George Santos to help him land an A-list actor in his next movie.

Larsen included multiple photos of George Santos at the bank and everything. But just in case you thought this might have been some kind of elaborate joke on Larsen’s park, Santos himself then weighed in. At about one in the morning, Santos replied to Larsen with this: “You see Ian… If you were good at gossiping your little pathetic trip to the bank would make sense. But here we are.”

In other words, George Santos doesn’t appear to be denying that he spent Monday wandering around a bank lobby trying to cast people in a Kevin Smith movie (some folks think Santos may have been talking about an obscure far right director also named Kevin Smith). In any case the whole thing is so absurd that the real Kevin Smith is now mocking him for it. George Santos is not well.
