As Palmer Report reported earlier this week, Special Counsel Jack Smith is moving with all due haste. CNN reported that even as Smith remans in Europe recovering from a biking accident, he has still made some moves that show his intent in these investigations. He initially asked a judge to hold Trump in contempt over the classified documents he took, though the judge declined to do so. Even as that request was pending, Smith brought several of Trump’s associates before a grand jury, including Pat Cipollone, Patrick Philbin, Stephen Miller, and “three of Trump’s closest aides,” CNN reported but did not name. The grand jury is investigating the January 6 insurrection, and the charge is being led by Smith and 20 prosecutors. Smith is, of course, also taking over the investigation into the classified documents theft.

As CNN pointed out, Smith is in a much better position than was Robert Mueller in his Russian investigation. Much of the evidence in the current cases has already been gathered, including-CNN reported-a financial probe that has been going on for over a year. Smith also will not have to grapple with the sitting president issue, as Trump is long gone from the presidency. Smith is leaving no proverbial stone unturned, as CNN also reported that he is now involved in several state investigations into whether Trump tried to overturn the election in those states.

Donald Trump is looking at an interesting 2023. While he announced his candidacy for president for 2024, far more people are interested in his criminal activities. CNN called Trump’s announcement a “low wattage” one, as no one seems to be paying him very much attention. What is getting everyone’s attention is Trump’s continued attempts to thumb his nose at authorities by refusing to turn over records. The Stock Dork reported that additional classified documents have been uncovered from a storage facility in West Palm Beach, close to Mar-a-Lago. Who knows where Trump has documents hidden? Even though Trump has apparently learned nothing from this experience, his attorneys have. Stock Dork reported that they have already turned over the newly-found documents to the FBI. Trump, of course, claims to have never been to the facility, let alone used it. Yeah, this is like all the people he claimed not to know after they delivered bad news about him. He also claims to have designated the documents as “personal” before leaving the White House, which presidents absolutely have a right to do, but that does not include classified information.

It’s coming, people. Have patience. This team needs to ensure that they have enough on this career criminal prior to charging him, and they must get it done before the 2024 election cycle is in full swing. They have one shot, and they must do it right. The House Select Committee has also found “evidence of criminality” according to Adam Schiff and have “agreed on next steps” according to the Independent. The walls are slowly closing in on Trump, and what a happy New Year it will be to see him charged as deserved.
