Free Reality Winner!

I’ve always felt that Reality Winner didn’t belong in prison. She violated the letter of the law when she leaked those documents, but she was exposing a much bigger crime on Donald Trump’s part. By default it’s illegal to stick your foot out and purposely trip someone who’s running past, but when the person in question is a bank robber who’s getting away with the loot, it’s an entirely different story.

One of the reasons I haven’t focused on Reality Winner’s case is that, sadly, I haven’t seen any hope of getting her out of prison while Donald Trump and Bill Barr are in charge. They don’t want her anywhere near a television camera, and the best way to do that is to keep her locked up. I figured the only hope was to make sure Trump loses in November, and then take things up with the next President and Attorney General. But now things have changed.

Due to the coronavirus spreading through prisons, we’ve seen the federal government release several nonviolent inmates. Former Trump lawyer Michael Cohen is being released. Rapper Tekashi 6ix9ine has been released. Reality Winner is just as nonviolent, and just as little of a threat to the public. She’s also apparently immunocompromised, meaning she’s at greater risk if she catches coronavirus, which in turn means she should be at the front of the line for being released:

Let’s do what we can to pressure the legal system to release Reality Winner now. Surely they don’t want to be seen as endangering her life. You can find out more about her case by following her mother’s Twitter account.
