Donald Trump’s campaign rally in Tulsa this weekend was a failure in just about every way possible. The only way it could have gone even worse for him was if the roof had caved in, but in that case at least the TV cameras couldn’t have shown how empty the building was. Now the whole thing has taken an even uglier turn for him.

Remember when six members of Donald Trump’s advance team tested positive just before the rally? At the time, Palmer Report pointed out that because asymptomatic and pre-symptomatic people often test negative even when they’re positive, it meant that a lot more than just six of them had the virus. Worse, some of the false negatives were going to work the rally and spread the virus.

MSNBC is confirming this evening that two additional members of the Trump advance team have indeed now tested positive, after having worked at the rally. This means they either caught the coronavirus at the rally, or they already had it and spent the rally spreading it around. They were reportedly wearing masks, but while that helps greatly, it’s not a magic wand. Would you want to attend a rally being run by staffers who were positive for coronavirus, no matter how bundled up they were?

And so the whole thing gets even uglier for Donald Trump. He’s already facing thorough humiliation for having drawn a small crowd that filled less than one-third of the arena, and was only a tiny fraction as large as the Trump campaign had predicted. Now we’re already getting confirmation that the coronavirus was indeed present at the rally. All that’s left to, unfortunately, is wait to see just how many attendees end up getting sick and dying. We wish them the best on their health, but this was so predictable.
