It’s been here since literally the beginning of time. The disrespect, dehumanizing, and denigration of women. It started with Adam and Eve after all! Yes, Eve was the temptress, the seductive and silly woman who tempted Adam into sin! No wonder why women have had to fight so very hard. Throughout centuries, women have had to prove their strength, that they’re more than the sum of their parts, and that their lives are not about a tempting men with forbidden fruit. That woman can be anything and anyone they want.

And now, in 2023, we have four women on the Supreme Court. Three of them are magnificent Justices. I mention all this because the Garden of Eden has returned from the past and is consuming the extreme court in real time.

Have you noticed anything funny as it relates to the court? Because I have. Not the fact that they’re issuing these horrible opinions. I am not speaking of that. I speak of an emboldened court — of MEN.

These men have taken to attacking our Supreme Court women in their dissents.– and their attacks are getting more partisan, arrogant, and concerning. I wrote the other day of Justice Thomas calling Justice Jackson “irrational” in his dissent. But he’s hardly the only one.

Take Justice Gorsuch, for example. Gorsuch rebuked Justice Sotomayor for objecting to his ruling regarding LGBTQ people.

In his dissent, Justice Gorsuch hit out at her saying her dissent is a: “distortion of the case at hand” and “reimagines the facts.” Not content to leave it there, Gorsuch says Sotomayor’s dissent spends much of its time “adrift on a sea of hypotheticals.”

And let’s not forget John Roberts, who actually (again) cautioned people to be more gentle in their criticism of the court, more soft-spoken lest it poison the public against them. And he specifically brought up all three Democratic Justices.

So here is what I see: The extreme court men are getting bolder. They are now full-on criticizing the women Justices and, in some cases, sound patronizing and almost mocking of them.

I am bringing this to your attention so that you may be ready for it. After all, there are many more opinions this dastardly court will write. If this becomes a pattern with the male Justices mocking and belittling the women justices, we will have to call it out because we want no garden of Edens here.
