Yes, we do need free and fair elections, but not the kind Donald Trump talks about. He doesn’t want free and fair elections; he wants to win at whatever cost. He says one thing, but we know he means another. During his visit to New Hampshire, he made that claim, but he peppered it with typical Trump bullshit. He, of course, talked about the 2020 election being stolen. According to Trump, however, they didn’t investigate the people who really cheated. Who those “people who really cheated” are is something known only to Trump’s sad, deranged mind. Now, if Donald Trump knew who these people are, he would certainly tell us. He can’t tell us because they don’t exist. The only cheating we’ve seen to date are Republicans.

The most nonsensical thing Trump said during his talk was: “When I left, which was ridiculous that we had to leave, we have to follow the laws of our land.” This statement is wrong on so many levels. He had to leave because he lost. Yes, that is the “law of the land,” but Trump refused (and still refuses) to see it that way. A Huffpost White House correspondent was present and said: “He didn’t follow the law. He attempted a coup. Which happens to implicate a number of different criminal laws.” Trump is currently facing 91 criminal charges, and they continue to go against him. An appeals court recently rejected Twitter’s claims that Trump should have been forewarned that his account was being accessed. Why? So that he could delete everything? That’s not how search warrants work. If we gave every criminal defendant the opportunity to see evidence before authorities can get that evidence, guess what would happen? There would be no evidence. This is one of the most ridiculous things ever, and why does X (nee, Twitter) care? They’re a social media site, and that’s all they are and need to be. You would think Jim Jordan owned it. One of the judges who disagreed with the ruling was appointed by Trump, Judge Neomi Rao. She wrote: “Judicial disregard of executive privilege undermines the President, not just the former President being investigated in this case.” She is wrong. The only reason Mueller didn’t go farther with Trump is because he was the sitting president. Any privilege goes out the door with them. Otherwise, they would be above the law, which contradicts every criminal law in existence.

Someone or something needs to stop Trump. Jack Smith is our best hope of that happening. The Republicans continue to cower at his feet. They will go along with anything he says, right or wrong. Jack Smith, on the other hand, knows that Trump has broken the law, and he is determined to bring him to justice. Smith’s team is on the same page. It was reported that the newest member of the team, Michael Dreeban, was seen at the Supreme Court this week, observing oral arguments. He has argued before the court 108 times. Perhaps he is preparing for 109. The team is prepared for this fight, and they intend to win.
