There’s a reason Dr. Anthony Fauci has managed to survive working for six different U.S. Presidents. He has a knack for getting the most important medical and scientific information out there while staying away from the politics involved. Trouble is, Donald Trump is such a deranged buffoon, he can’t handle it even when Fauci simply states the obvious.

That’s why it was a bit dangerous when Dr. Fauci publicly testified to the Senate this week. He merely stated that if the country is reopened too soon, it’ll lead to needless death and suffering. Also, water is wet and the sky is blue. But this kind of truth doesn’t work for Donald Trump, who is now whining and pouting about it.

According to NBC News, Donald Trump now says that Dr. Fauci’s answer on reopening was “not an acceptable answer,” whatever that’s supposed to mean. It’s clear that Trump has a real problem with Fauci. And it’s clear that Trump’s allies at places like Fox News are desperate to get Fauci out of the way, because his truth doesn’t fit with their fictional narratives.

But it’s also clear that Donald Trump is afraid of Dr. Fauci, or else Trump would have fired him a long time ago. Trump appears to know that he’ll take a major hit if he fires the scientific expert who’s the most trusted and respected in the country, during the middle of a pandemic. We’ll see how it plays out from here.
