Even as Donald Trump tries (and fails) to convince the courts to delay his first criminal trial because of his imaginary “presidential immunity” claim, he’s also facing multiple upcoming civil trials. His attempt at delaying his next civil trial also just failed – and now it appears to be just days away.

Trump just lost his last minute appeal to try to stop his second E. Jean Carroll civil trial from happening. Trump had argued (stop us if you’ve heard this one before) that he had presidential immunity, but the U.S. Court of Appeals in New York has now laughed that off and ruled against him. The trial is now set to start in less than two weeks. Trump can still ask the U.S. Supreme Court to intervene, but so far they seem uninterested in helping Trump with any of his trials.

It’s important to keep in mind that once you get this close to the scheduled start date for a trial, last minute filings (and “stall tactics”) don’t tend to delay anything. They get shot down in real time, and the trial happens when it was supposed to happen. We saw this with Trump’s first trial against E. Jean Carroll. We’re now seeing it with Trump’s second trial against E. Jean Carroll. And we’ll see it again with Trump’s criminal trials.
