As I’ve said many times, some of the most devious political actions are made in the dead of night. They’re made by Republicans, perhaps hoping nobody will find out about their sins. Again and again, they have done this. A good case in point is Ron DeSantis signing a six-week abortion ban in the dead of night, which of course, became the main political subject that weekend, much to the non-Governor’s dismay.

So as the clock neared Midnight on Monday, the Trump legal team — what remains of it –quickly filed a motion. This motion is to Judge Cannon in Florida and requests that there be a delay for his upcoming trial. How long of a delay? INDEFINITELY. I must give Trump this much: he’s got nerve.

Trump’s attorneys said the following in their legal filing: “There is most assuredly no reason for any expedited trial, and the ends of Justice are best served by a continuance.” But that isn’t all. In the filing, attorneys also addressed Trump’s co-defendant, Walt Nauta. And they want an indefinite delay for him as well.

“Mr. Naura’s job requires him to accompany President Trump during most campaign trips around the country. This schedule makes trial preparation with both of the defendants challenging.”

I’ll say it again. Man, the NERVE. Read these words again, my friends, and see the arrogance and the entitlement. It’s a bit mind-blowing. Now Trump will not get his wish for an indefinite delay. Many great legal minds agreed, and many of them were laughing at and even mocking this absurd request.

Some have spoken of Judge Cannon, worrying she just might grant the request. Please don’t worry. Cannon likely won’t, and if she does, Jack Smith will surely challenge her and win, so I am not a bit worried about this.

But I still find my eyes drawn back to this Pompous legal brief. Yes, we all knew Trump would ask for a delay, but the haughtiness in this filing is stunning. And it won’t get Trump anywhere whatsoever.
