In what was the biggest moment of Donald Trump’s life, he waited. And waited. And waited. Nope, he wasn’t waiting for Godot. That ship sailed a long time ago. He was waiting for his FRIENDS — that divine group of Trump worshipers that had rallied for him on January 6.

And even as Trump was surrendering and being processed, I imagine his mind was elsewhere, and he was wondering. Are they there? Are they fighting for me outside the courthouse? The answer to that question is no.

Oh, there were a few people there. But by and large – they left Trump stranded. Donald Trump’s merry band of insurrectionists left him high and dry. Fish or cut bait. They cut bait, alright. Only a few protesters could be seen. It was almost embarrassing for the traitor.

I imagine the disappointment that oozed from Trump. No insurrection. No fighting. No protests. Donald Trump was alone. They had left him. They were not going to do it again. And I imagine Trump must have been enraged. They were his last white hope for the future. Imagine the chaos they could cause! Imagine all the hate they could bring.

They didn’t. And what this showed is that Donald Trump has lost some of his power. He’s lost a significant amount. There was nothing he could do to make them come. He had hinted at it. It’s what he wanted. But at last, it would seem the spell had been at least partially broken.
Donald John Trump was alone.
