One way to know for sure that you’re losing: your attorney quits just before you’re criminally indicted. An even more surefire way to know that you’re losing: your attorney testifies against you to a grand jury and then quits just before you’re criminally indicted.

That’s the case with Donald Trump and his attorney Timothy Parlatore, who is now quitting, according to a report from CNN. You may not have heard this attorney’s name as much as the names of some others, but there are two key things to know. First, he was reportedly in charge of the Trump team’s “self search” for classified documents at Trump’s properties. Second, he reportedly testified against Trump to the grand jury back in December.

So why is he quitting now? No official reason is being reported. Parlatore is publicly insisting that there’s no story here, and he’s also insisting that Trump is innocent. But there’s what people say, and there’s what people do. And when attorneys testify to the grand jury against their own client and then quit just before their client is indicted, there’s usually a big story behind it. Stay tuned.
