It is not a surprise that when crimes take place in both literature and film, they often happen at night. Nighttime is the right time for the nocturnal monsters to rear their ugly heads, and they often do. These are people who live in the shadows of society and exist on the fringes. They are much more comfortable moving about in the flickering shadows of the night than anywhere else.

One of these nocturnal monsters — one of the MOST monstrous — is Donald John Trump. Donald Trump has always seemed to prefer hatching his evil on truth social in the wee hours of the night. He is as nocturnal as it gets, scampering out from behind his Mar-a-Lago hideaway in the dead of night to pour forth his rage at the world.

And yet, the following story has gotten lost in the shuffle a bit. Trump has once again stunned Republicans — by warmly welcoming the endorsement of the Black Lives Matter group. Oh — they did not REALLY endorse him. You see, ONE former member of the group said he thought Trump should win in 2024—one person.

But to someone like Trump, that did not matter. Trump appeared overjoyed with the endorsement, which he wrongly labeled as coming from the whole group who was quick to set the record straight on THAT one.

“Very honored to have his and BLM’S support,” Trump actually WROTE on Truth Social. The problem is this man who endorsed Trump is no longer with Black Lives Matter. In fact, they came out and condemned the endorsement. That’s really not the point, though. The issue is this:

Trump, in the past, has expressed his hatred for this group. Yet, when he thought he was being endorsed by them all of a sudden — the hate was gone, swept away, like ashes. This is because Trump, at heart, has no core beliefs about ANYTHING. He’d make a terrible spy. He’s the guy that would betray both the country he spied for for AND the country he’d be spying on.

He has no inner core. His core doesn’t exist. All it takes to make him all mushy-gushy, to get him to beam with love, is to — compliment him. That’s IT. All the people he screams about now? If any of them came out with a compliment for ole orange-face, Trump would embrace them as friends. That is how easy it is to manipulate the nocturnal monster.

Hey — I didn’t say all nocturnal monsters were particularly bright. Donald Trump sees himself as a tough guy. Nothing could be further from the truth. He is a monster, but this nocturnal monster has marshmallows for brains, as he can be so easily suckered by a mere compliment.
