Donald Trump launches unhinged attack on Judge Engoron’s clerk during trial

Donald Trump is in a New York City courthouse right now, watching helplessly as a civil fraud trial plays out that will cost him all his assets and leave him broke. Yet somehow, even as Trump is sitting there, he’s making Truth Social posts attacking the judge’s clerk.

Trump posted this to Truth Social an hour ago: “Schumer’s girlfriend, Alison R. Greenfield, is running this case against me. How disgraceful! This case should be dismissed immediately!!” That’s right, he’s smearing the judge’s clerk on a particularly nasty level – and he’s somehow doing it during the trial.

It’s not immediately clear if Trump made this post during a break, or if it was pre-scheduled, or if this gives away that one of Trump’s handlers has been posting on Truth Social on Trump’s behalf. Whatever is going on, it’ll come out eventually.

But in the meantime Trump’s post is shockingly over the top in terms of inappropriateness. This kind of thing can only hurt Trump. The judge in this case could site it as a basis for even more harsh penalties. And we suspect that the prosecutors in Trump’s various criminal cases will cite it as part of their efforts to get full gag orders against him, and ultimately pretrial incarceration. Make no mistake: Trump isn’t “getting away” with antics like this. He’s burying himself.
