Whatever is wrong with Donald Trump, medically or cognitively, it’s been getting far worse since his mysterious trip to the hospital a few months ago. Trump now speaks incoherently more frequently than ever. He’s also developing a bad habit of blurting out the true things he’s not supposed to say. He just did it again, and this is the kind that could cost him.
Donald Trump held a town hall on Fox News tonight, in what was apparently supposed to be an effort at convincing people not to worry about the coronavirus or the economy. Much of it was babbling incoherency, as expected. But then for some reason he decided to admit that he’ll be “cutting” Social Security and Medicare. No really, he said this – and it’s on camera.
I can guarantee you right now that a good percentage of the anti-Trump television ads during the general election will include this footage of Donald Trump saying that he’s going to cut Social Security and Medicare. We’ve consistently seen that a large chunk of senior citizens tend to become single-issue voters whenever they believe that Social Security and Medicare could be cut.
Donald Trump just handed the Democrats a huge talking point. He can deny it all he wants during the debates, and during his rally speeches. But he’s now on tape saying, in exact words, that he’ll be “cutting” Social Security and Medicare. He’s going to end up regretting the fact that these words came out of his mouth – and these words are going to be thrown back at him again and again.
