What Donald Trump and his attorneys are doing in court can’t be called a “strategy” or even a “bad strategy” because even the worst strategy would still be, you know, a strategy. It might not have any chance of working, but it would still be decipherable and understandable and coherent. Trump’s legal moves are none of those things.

Trump has now asked for a directed verdict in his New York civil fraud trial five times – and he just lost for the fifth time. There was never anything greater than a zero percent chance that Trump would win. Nor will these moves help him on appeal.

Donald Trump is simply telling his attorneys to “do something” to save him, and they know there’s nothing that can be done to help him, so they’re making nonsense maneuvers to try to keep him sated. It’s as simple as that. For all the talk we hear about what Trump’s legal strategy is, he doesn’t have one.
