Back when Donald Trump was under grand jury investigation in multiple jurisdictions and he was clearly on his way to criminal indictment and trial, I started predicting that Donald Trump would end up in prison. Despite the obviousness of this prediction, I took a ton of heat for it – mainly because the media (on both sides) was chasing ratings by insisting that Trump was going to get away with it all no matter what.

Of course now that Trump has gone on criminal trial and been convicted of thirty-four felonies, the whole Trump going to prison thing has gone a lot more mainstream. This weekend I was pleased to see Democratic Congressman Josh Harder send out an email titled “Could Trump go to jail?”

Harder expects that the most likely outcome in Trump’s upcoming July 11th sentencing hearing is something like house arrest. And that’s entirely possible, given that these are the lowest level (class E) of felony charges. It’s Trump’s other three criminal trials, which all come with much higher level felony charges, that will automatically send Trump to prison for a long time if he’s convicted.

But it’s nice to see that the notion of Donald Trump ending up in prison, which has been an obvious and likely outcome all along, is finally getting discussed in a real way in places other than just Palmer Report.
