Donald Trump is finished

Politico analyzed Donald Trump’s support based on the recent primaries. The suburban, highly educated areas voted against Trump, which is not a surprise; however, Politico’s study showed “a significant block of voters who did not want Trump in more exurban, red-leaning counties.” They went on to say that these voters were skeptical of Trump in 2016, but they voted for him anyway in both 2016 and 2020. This time around, they seem a bit more reluctant where Trump is concerned. Instead of spending time vetting his vice-presidential candidate, he might want to check out Politico, as he’s probably wasting his time.

Politico looked at primary results and found that over 1,000 counties are sending warning signs to Trump. Even after he secured the primary, people continued to vote against him in closed primaries. In other words, many Republicans wanted someone other than Trump as the Republican nominee. Politico talked to Parker Fairbairn, who is the GOP chair in Emmet County, MI, a county where Trump won 55% of the vote in 2020.This year, he earned only two-thirds of the vote. Emmet County is not an affluent area with college-educated voters who continue to be conservative. It is, however, an area outside of the suburbs where they are almost as prosperous, and they are staunchly conservative. They just don’t want Trump. Who can blame them? He has ruined their party, and people are sick of the lies. In fact, a piece in the LA Times indicates that people are sick of all the Trump-affiliated liars.

Mark Barabak, who penned the column, said: “The arc of the moral university-the one that is supposedly long and bending toward justice-seems finally to be edging closer to its mark.” Barabak pointed to Ronna McDaniel-and her hiring and subsequent firing by NBC-John Eastman’s fight against disbarment, and the result of Kari Lake’s defamation lawsuit all lead him to believe that things are turning around and pointing in the right direction. While all three are in different situations, as Barabak pointed out, they all stem from the biggest liar of all, Donald Trump. McDaniel was promised $300,000 a year until other hosts spoke out. Thank God they did because putting McDaniel in that position would have been wrong. Rachel Maddow gave the best example: “You wouldn’t hire a mobster to work at a DA’s office, right?” Even though some contend McDaniel is yet another example of “silencing conservative voices,” Barabak stated: “Rather, it was taking back a megaphone from a known liar whose every utterance would-and should-have been called into question.” No one wanted to hear from McDaniel. She can go to an outlet that loves lies like Fox and Newsmax. Why try to legitimize a liar?

These are all positive signs to our continued fight for our democracy. No longer will we stand silently by while people lie and get gullible people to believe those lies. We will stand up for what’s right for our entire country, even for those who refuse to understand. Trump’s time is done. Whether convicted in criminal court or not, he’s done.
