Donald Trump is doubling down tonight on a huge mistake

As Donald Trump’s senility grows worse, his mind appears to be reverting back to a time before he made the mistake of running for office. Trump keeps saying that Barack Obama is the current President of the United States, and now Trump is giving away that he still thinks “repealing Obamacare” is a current Republican talking point. Trump’s failing mind really does seem to have reverted to roughly 2012.

Back here in the real world in 2023, calling for the repeal of Obamacare is huge mistake for any politician to make. Obamacare succeeded. Tens of millions of Americans on both political sides now rely on it. Trump might as well be calling for Social Security or the forty hour workweek to be repealed.

But instead of backing down from his “repeal Obamacare” remarks or simply ignoring the whole thing and hoping it goes away, Trump (or whoever is posting for him) is busy doubling down on his huge mistake. He posted this to social media tonight: “Getting much better Healthcare than Obamacare for the American people will be a priority of the Trump Administration. It is not a matter of cost, it is a matter of HEALTH. America will have one of the best Healthcare Plans anywhere in the world. Right now it has one of the WORST!”

By all means, Trump, keep talking about repealing Obamacare. Talk about it every day. Shout it from the rafters. Make it a central issue for 2024. Force every Republican who’s running in a competitive House or Senate race in 2024 to face questions about whether 30 million Americans should get to keep their health insurance. Keep running your senile mouth, Donald. We’ll be over here using it to craft our talking points.
