Donald Trump has bonkers meltdown over Judge Chutkan ruling

Jack Smith and the Department of Justice have filed for a protective order against Donald Trump, which would prohibit him from publicly discussing key aspects of the case. It’s different from a gag order, but it would still serve to limit the damage that Trump can try to do with his mouth.

Trump tried asking for a delay over the whole thing, but after Judge Chutkan presumably finished laughing hysterically at the idea, she confirmed that Trump indeed had to file a response by 5pm eastern time today. With that deadline fast approaching, and with the judge highly likely to rule in the DOJ’s favor, Trump is melting down already.

Trump posted this to social media: “Deranged Jack Smith is going before his number one draft pick, the Judge of his “dreams” (WHO MUST BE RECUSED!), in an attempt to take away my FIRST AMENDMENT RIGHTS.”

This screed is an admission on Trump’s part that he knows he’s going to lose this ruling. It’s also an attempt at portraying himself as the victim of the forthcoming ruling, but that’s not going to help him in any way.

Donald Trump still hasn’t quite figured out that when he whines and cries about how badly he’s losing these legal battles, it just makes him look weak and broken and finished in the eyes of his own base. There’s a reason why even they aren’t bothering to show up and protest his arrests, and why Trump’s 2024 donation totals are pitifully low. In his desperation for sympathy, Trump has convinced his own supporters that he’s a washed up lost cause.
