Earlier today ABC News reported that Mark Meadows received immunity from Jack Smith awhile back and has since testified against Donald Trump multiple times. Meadows’ attorney is denying the report. But it’s notable that ABC ran the story even after Meadows’ attorney told them it wasn’t accurate – meaning they consider their sourcing more reliable than Meadows’ claims.

I wrote earlier that Meadows’ attorney may simply be trying to shield Meadows from the inevitable attack by Trump. Now that attack is… well, sort of happening? Trump just went on a very lengthy bender about Meadows testifying against him, going back and forth about whether he believes the news, and whether Jack Smith may have forced Meadows into it.

The whole thing is just bizarre. Trump starts off by saying “I don’t think Mark Meadows would lie about the Rigged and Stollen 2020 Presidential Election merely for getting IMMUNITY against Prosecution (PERSECUTION!) by Deranged Prosecutor, Jack Smith.” And of course when Trump says “lie” he means “tell the truth in way that Trump doesn’t like.”

Trump goes on to hedge his bets, saying “when you really think about it, after being hounded like a dog for three years, told you’ll be going to jail for the rest of your life, your money and your family will be forever gone, and we’re not at all interested in exposing those that did the RIGGING — If you say BAD THINGS about that terrible “MONSTER,” DONALD J. TRUMP, we won’t put you in prison, you can keep your family and your wealth, and, perhaps, if you can make up some really horrible “STUFF” a out him, we may very well erect a statue of you in the middle of our decaying and now very violent Capital, Washington, D.C.” Holy crap, that was all just one big run-on sentence.

Trump finishes his meltdown by saying “Who really knows” if Mark Meadows has flipped on him. This is all so weird, it’s difficult to put into words. Trump clearly feels enraged by this news, but he can’t quite bring himself to believe that Mark Meadows has sold him out – because of course that would mean Trump accepting that it’s all over for him.
