Donald Trump has berserk meltdown after Jack Smith proposes start date for 1/6 criminal trial
Jack Smith and the DOJ made a court filing today, laying out a highly realistic timeline for pretrial procedures that would allow Donald Trump’s 1/6 criminal trial to begin on January 2nd, 2024. Given that the judge in the case is on the ball, Trump will have very little ability to stall or delay the timeframe that Smith is laying out. Trump appears to know this too.
Trump is now melting down on Truth Social, whining that a January 2nd trial would take place “just ahead of the important Iowa Caucuses.” Well too damn bad. If Trump didn’t want his criminal trials to interfere with his imaginary presidential campaign, then he shouldn’t have committed so many crimes to begin with.
Trump is also insisting that “Only an out of touch lunatic would ask for such a date, ONE DAY into the New Year.” It’s not even clear what that’s supposed to mean. Is Trump upset that he’ll have to spend January 6th working on trial prep?
Donald Trump is once again demanding that his criminal trials be delayed until after the 2024 election. But this absolutely positively 100% will not happen, no matter how much whining he does. At this point all Trump can do is whine, it’s all already over for him. He’s going to prison, that’s what the rest of his life will consist of, and that’s that.
